Learning from, and working with the Code for Australia Fellows has brought a dynamic perspective to Victoria Legal Aid, building our capacity to use design thinking, rapid prototyping and co-design.

“The knowledge transfer was so critical in ensuring that the solution we got at the end of the engagement wasn’t a black box - that we knew the intricacies of it, and that we could pick it up and continue to run with it. We were walked through the software development lifecycle and introduced to new ways of working.”

The Code for Australia Fellowship introduced Council to a new approach to engagement and collaboration between departments – helping break down cultural barriers.

Being government organisations we get stuck in the way that we’re doing things and innovation is hard to grasp. This was the perfect opportunity to try something different.
