Developer Expression of Interest – Rules as Code Fellowship (Remote)

The Opportunity

We’re looking for developers who are interested in joining a series of Fellowships we’re running with the NSW government based around Rules as Code.

Rules as Code is a concept for building legislation and policy that is both readable by humans and written in code. Since government teams need to build and maintain digital services to help customers and businesses interact with their legislation, why not create the legislation directly as software?

You can find more information on Rules as Code here and here.

– Willingness to advocate for the use of the platform in multi-disciplinary teams under the “Better Rules” model

Plus bonus points for

– Familiarity with OpenFisca platform

– Ability to develop custom tools for analysis and reporting

– Experience with modern CI workflow and virtualisation

Other general selection criteria

– Ability to clearly communicate your work and decision making, including to non-technical stakeholders

– Interest or experience in Human Centred Design and Agile ways of working

– Team orientated, comfortable with remote working in a distributed, self-managed team

The nitty-gritty details

These will be remote, full-time roles for a period of 6 months, open to everyone with the right to work in Australia. The salary we offer is $100k per annum, including super, prorated for the duration of the contract.

These Fellowships are due to start in December 2020 – January 2021 with interviews commencing on a rolling basis soon.
